Does Alodine® EC2™ stand up well against chemical corrosion?
Yes. Alodine® EC2™ is excellent at resisting corrosion and performs 5-10 times better than several layers of paint and a chromate by itself. Alodine® EC2™ is not soluble in acids or bases commonly found in corrosive environments, and it lasts for 2000-6000 hours or more on many aluminum alloys without painting or sealing.
Does Alodine® EC2™ stand up well against heat?
Yes. Alodine® EC2™ is stable well past the melting point of aluminum. It is stable to about 900°C or more.
How does Alodine® EC2™ reduce my costs?
Alodine® EC2™ eliminates pretreatment and typically eliminates the need for up to 1-2 layers of paint, all in one quick step. Its high performance often enables users to eliminate expensive raw materials such as stainless steel.
How hard is it and is it flexible?
Alodine® EC2™ is thousands of times harder than paint, yet is as flexible as paint.
Does Alodine® EC2™ require post-curing like most paints?
No. With, Alodine® EC2™ all that is necessary is water rinsing and drying or air blowoff.
Does Alodine® EC2™ need to be sealed?
No, in most applications sealing is not performed. Even unsealed, Alodine® EC2™ outperforms aluminum oxide coatings by several times in corrosion resistance in many applications.
How can using Alodine® EC2™ reduce my company's environmental footprint?
Alodine® EC2™ eliminates chromate and usually at least one layer of paint, getting rid of the cancer risk of chromate and solvents associated with liquid painting.
On what surfaces can the coating be used?
Aluminium and Al alloys
Titanium and Titanium alloys
Aluminized, aluminium plated and IVD aluminium
Aluminized ferrous substrates
What is the coating thickness once applied to the part?
Useful coating thickness is 5 – 10 µm, with possibilities up to 25 µm.
